The Artisans

Real Craft. Real Stories. Real Makers.

Each TdJ piece begins in the hands of Japanese artisans such as metalworkers in Toyama and earthenware potters in Aomori, each deeply rooted in their craft and region.

Many have spent decades, and some even centuries, refining their artisan skills, guided by knowledge and techniques passed down through generations.

We work closely with these Japanese master artisans to create and curate pieces that carry their spirit, shaped with intention, guided by experience, and made to endure. Through enduring use, these pieces become familiar, personal and quietly woven into your everyday life.

Every detail reflects the relationship between maker and material, formed through patience, experience, and care.

In Japan, this approach is known as monozukuri, a philosophy of making grounded in responsibility, respect, and a deep commitment to craft.

Through TdJ, this way of making continues, reflected through the pieces we share.
